Dylan Slevin he overtook his compatriot William O’Connor and now returns on Sunday to face Dimitri van den Bergh at the gala PDC World Darts Championships.
Considering his Tour Card was significant, “Oceans Slevin” was delighted with the victory. However, he also faced criticism that the board was concerned about his points, to which he responded. Some say he may be in trouble because of DRA’s new points rules.

“It means the world. I think as I got closer to qualifying, my Tour Card was already on the brink. I had to get to Worlds to save her and I wasn’t really thinking about my Tour Card, but it’s in the back of your mind. I was lucky to get over the line. I said I never wanted to go through that again, playing with Willie or any of the Irish guys, Brendan (Dolan), Mickey (Mansell) or anyone like that. It was the hardest game of my life,” Slevin said.
“I’m 22, I’m young, I have my whole life ahead of me. Coming here last year really helped me gain that experience on stage. I learned from that last year and it took me over the line.”
“I don’t think I’ve played with Dimitri this year. I think I was supposed to play him last year if I made it through the first round. We’ll regroup for tomorrow, today I’ll forget about this game, I’m still shaking. Hopefully I can get my A game on Sunday night.
Dylan Slevin found a familiar face in his life, William O’Connor.
He went through Q-School and many thought he would make it, but he didn’t. But Slevin said it never even occurred to him to get a Tour Card and he just came up with the idea.
“I’ll be completely honest, my manager Matt said if we were going to go to Q-School when I was going there and I said I had a broken leg but I wasn’t sure. He said we’ll put you in if you’re going, if you don’t you won’t go anyway, and I was just going to get experience on Monday and I thought maybe we’d find something here. Once I understood this, it was so amazing. I really haven’t (started), I’m going to put in a huge effort next year.”
Simon Whitlock may have been the catalyst for the aggressive scoring rule, and Slevin said it would probably be fixed anyway with new equipment.
“You think, oh, you’re going to get in trouble and all that. But no, I will try to change the equipment for next year. I have always flown basic, standard flight, stem and any point I like.
