Manager Collins leaves Raith to join Sacramento Republic

Manager Neil Collins has left Raith Rovers to take charge of Sacramento Republic in the USL Championship.

Collins, who took charge of the Kirkcaldy club in September, previously coached the Tampa Bay Rowdies before taking over at Barnsley in 2023.

The 41-year-old oversaw a 2-1 Scottish Championship win at Hampden’s Queen’s Park on Friday and has already indicated he is keen on a return to the United States.

“Last Sunday, we were informed that Sacramento was prepared to activate the severance clause in his contract to hire Neal as their manager,” Raith said in a statement.

“We met with Neil to express his desire to retain him as manager, but he made it clear that his ambition was always to return to the United States and this opportunity was too good for him and his family to turn down.”

Raith added that a search has begun for a replacement and that Colin Cameron and John Potter will take over in the interim.
