“It’s a bit surreal. I think I kept my Tour Card, but it was an absolute privilege to play with Raymond van Barneveld on the big stage. He didn’t play his best game, but who cares,” says Kenny in his post-match press conference. “I got the timing right, hit the double at the right time and crossed the line.”

The greatest victory of his life? “Oh yes, definitely!” Kenny replies firmly. “It will probably give me another two years on the road as I will only raise around £13,500 next year. Personally, there’s a lot more to come, so I can move on and really get my act together.”

Even though he was in control, it didn’t make him any less nervous as he pitched for the game. Ultimately, the Welshman needed nine match darts to finally get over the line. “I had a double four that was closer to the top! My God, I was just giving him chances. But I’m so proud of myself. I felt comfortable in the stages and when we got to the breakthrough, I continued to do things well at the right time which helped me.”

However, as mentioned, things don’t get any easier for Kenny with Luke Humphries lurking in the third round. “I just can’t wait for Christmas. I don’t know when I’ll be back, but Luke Humphries is the best. I’m very happy to play with him and I hope I can give a good report,” says Kenny. “I expect him to average 100 and if I don’t get close, I’m going to get banged up. But I’ll be relaxed, so we’ll see.”
