´It makes me proud´ – Salah revels in Premier League records

Mohamed Salah spoke of his pride after breaking two Premier League records during Liverpool’s 6-3 win over Tottenham.

The Reds’ talisman produced a man-of-the-match performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with two goals and two assists to help the Premier League leaders move four points clear at the top.

Salah took his goals and assists tally into double figures for the season, becoming the first Premier League player to achieve the feat before Christmas and doing so in the first four promotion campaigns.

He moved up to fourth in Liverpool’s all-time leading scorer list, overtaking Billy Liddell after netting for the 229th time in all competitions.

“I didn’t think about it before the game, but I’m glad I did it, which makes me proud. I will continue to work hard,” he told Sky Sports.

“It’s great to achieve this [becoming Liverpool’s fourth-leading scorer] At such a big club, but the most important thing is that we won the game. Wherever I’m going to end my career, I’m happy.”

Liverpool dominated proceedings in north London, amassing a 4.54 expected goals from 24 shots on target with 12 on target.

However, Salah believes Arne Slott’s side still have work to do, as they head into Christmas four points clear at the top of the standings.

He added: “We were pretty good up front, but defensively, we have to improve as a team. It is very difficult to concede three goals. This is a good result. Hopefully, we’ll just keep going.

“We expected it [a chaotic game]The way they play, they open the game, they enjoy their football, physically tough, and mentally we always have to be in the game.

“The way they play doesn’t change much, it’s intense. [Manchester] City have struggled here, so have other teams. I’m happy we won because they played an intense game.”
