Jeffrey de Zwaan on Friday evening he did not qualify for the second round of the World Darts Championship. In his first match, “The Black Cobra” lost 3-1 to German Florian Hemple. More bad news for De Zwaan is that he lost his PDC Tour Card. If he wants her back, he will have to pass Q-School early next year.
With a score of 94.36, De Zwaan was on average two points ahead of his opponent. At times he showed that he could shoot. “But I missed too many doubles and the opportunities I got, I just didn’t take advantage of them. Especially those seven missed darts while leading 2-0 in the fourth set hurt a lot. It’s a huge failure,” De Zwaan said.
In the first set, De Zwaan even scored over a hundred. “But what does that mean nowadays? If you want to win the match you have to be able to do it throughout the match, in my case it’s still too inconsistent. It takes more than that, and I couldn’t accomplish that today. This is particularly disappointing.”

A tough opponent
De Zwaan, however, was well prepared. “I knew Florian would be a difficult opponent, he always does well at the World Championships. On the one hand, during the match, there were times when I felt like I was playing reasonably sensibly, but he was hardly lacking anything, especially in the first two sets, and I just couldn’t hurt him.”
The 28-year-old Dutchman took part in the Darts World Championship for the first time since 2021. “But I didn’t like it at all,” he said. “If I had won, I’m sure I would have thought about it differently, but now I only have negative aspects. I was very disappointed.”
