I can’t listen to it

For Mike Deckeryear 2025 PDC World Darts Championships ended in disappointment. The 29-year-old Belgian lost 3-1 in sets to Luke Woodhouse in the second round. On Sunday evening, “Real Deal” was in the Viaplay studio, where he recalled his match and talked about his compatriot Dymitr van den Berghwho managed to win his match last night.

As for the defeat to Woodhouse, the Belgian remained quite calm: “It just didn’t go my way. I threw one set well, that was the third one, but other than that it just didn’t work out. I already felt it when I threw myself on the stage,” De Decker began his analysis. “At one point I tried everything. I tried everything but it didn’t work. Darts is a sport for a while, even if I had to quit half an hour later, I could have played like a top player, but I didn’t. I think I’ll just skip the next World Cup,” he said with a laugh.

His compatriot Dimitri van den Bergh recorded a much better result in the second round match. “The Dreammaker” easily defeated his opponent Dylan Slevin 3-0. De Decker, even though he is a compatriot, also sees a lot of differences. “Dimitri is truly a beast on stage. He lives off this attention, dancing and cameras.”

De Decker claims to be friends with Van den Bergh, but interviews with his compatriot cause problems for him. “I can’t listen to them. I like him a lot, but I think his interviews are terrible. Both before and after the match, it is often much worse after. I also told him it might be a good idea to attend a one or two day media training where they will explain to you how to handle interviews. His interviews often don’t go well,” De Decker concluded.

“He says all sorts of irrelevant things. During the Grand Slam, he suddenly conjured up a coin. It was his “Lucky Penny” back then, but no one asks about it at all. That kind of thing. I just can’t listen to it,” the Belgian concluded with a laugh.

Van den Bergh will return to Alexandra Palace after Christmas to face Briton Callan Rydz in the third round.
