Josh Rock won a routine 3-0 victory Rhys Griffin in the second round in 2025 PDC World Darts Championships. However, when it comes to the world game of darts, this victory will have big consequences as the Northern Irishman will finish in the top 16 of the Order of Merit, beating Michael Smith during.
In an unspectacular opening of the competition, Rock made his first few throws in 24 and 19 overs, respectively. Even though Griffin started to find his feet in leg 3, pinning a pair of 180s, the leg ultimately went to Rock, also thanks to a 70 point score on the bull. So despite averaging only 77 points, Rock won the first set 3-0.

Griffin finally came off the board in the early stages of the second set, punishing Rock’s miss for 110 points. Rock, however, made a good comeback, keeping the shot solidly in the next leg. As the level continued to rise, both legs 3 and 4 also followed with darts, taking the set to the deciding stage. Griffin had the shot and started strongly with a 180. However, on the next nine shots, the Welshman failed to make the most of his opportunity. After Griffin rolled an 84, Rock was punished and doubled his lead in the set to 2-0.
Two sets to go Rock was full of confidence in set three, dominating the shot in the first set and then hitting six perfect darts in set two. Despite some setbacks in doubles on that leg, Rock ultimately pinned a double 2 to move one leg away from victory. Victory was secured moments later, setting up a post-Christmas showdown with former Masters champion Chris Dobey.
