AFC draws groups for Beach Soccer Asian Cup in Thailand; top three qualify for World Cup

December 20 – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has drawn the group for the 16-team AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup to be held in Thailand in March next year.

The tournament will be played from March 20 to 30, 2025 at Jomtien Beach, Pattaya. The top three teams will qualify for the Beach Soccer World Cup in Seychelles, the first to be hosted in Africa, in May 2025.

Defending champions Iran, seeking a fourth title, have been drawn in a tough-looking Group C with two-time champions the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and Indonesia.

Hosts Thailand, seeking a maiden title, have been drawn with Kuwait, Lebanon and India in Group A, while three-time winners Japan face China PR, Saudi Arabia and Iraq in Group B.

2015 champions Oman will face Bahrain, Malaysia and Vietnam in Group D.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
