AFC draws groups for U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia in April

Jan 24 – Hosts Saudi Arabia, chasing a third title, will face Uzbekistan, Thailand and China in Group A of the AFC U17 Asian Cup to be played from 3-12 April.

The 16 qualifying nations were divided into four groups in a draw held at the AFC’s Kuala Lumpur headquarters yesterday.

Group B will see defending champions Japan face Australia, Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates, while South Korea will meet Yemen, Afghanistan and Indonesia in Group C.

Top seed Iran is in Group D against Tajikistan, Oman and North Korea.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout rounds, as well as a slot in the 48-team U-17 World Cup to be played in Qatar later this year.
