Dallas—— Texas Rangers and right-handers Nathan Eovaldi A person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press that the two sides have agreed on a $75 million, three-year contract.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday night because the deal is conditional on the two-time World Series champion’s successful physical.
Bringing back the 34-year-old Eovaldi is one of the Rangers’ main goals this offseason.
Eovaldi became a free agent on Nov. 4 after declining a $20 million player option for the 2025 season.
The two-time All-Star pitched more than 300 innings in two years before joining the Rangers as a free agent, earning a $2 million buyout.
Eovaldi was the winning pitcher in the 2023 World Series in Arizona when he went 5-0 with a 2.95 ERA in six postseason starts. He was also part of Boston’s 2018 championship team.
The Rangers had expected Eovaldi to decline the option but said re-signing the Texan was one of their top priorities.
