Arsenal bosses are reportedly still in contact with a £55m deal to sign the club captain in Mikel Arteta in 2025.
Arsenal drew 0-0 with Everton and lost
The Gunners suffered a disappointing 0-0 draw with Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, failing to capitalize on Liverpool’s draw with Fulham in the process.
Arteta’s side had several shots on goal but were unable to break the deadlock. The Spaniard said after the game: “I’m very disappointed because when you do what we did against them today, you have to win games, you know. But at the end of the day, that’s football and that’s the hardest thing. The last 20-25 meters is what we have to do things.
“Credit also to their blocks, Jordan Pickford’s saves, the way they defend, and their desire to defend. But to be honest, it’s hard to ask for anything else from the team. Personally, can we do it? To be a little better, to deliver higher quality and to deliver magic moments, it’s necessary in this case, but it’s not easy.”

Arsenal will soon have the chance to strengthen their squad in the January transfer market, with interim sporting director rumored Jason Aitor is planning to bring in a new striker. Arteta also said before the Everton game that Arsenal are ready for January and there could be “some surprises”.
“I never expected January to be very busy, but we’ll have to wait and see how it goes,” Arteta said on the prospect of winter deals at Arsenal.
“There may be some surprises and we are ready for that and there are some opportunities and we have to wait and see. Hopefully the availability of the squad will be better in a few weeks, so we have to wait and see.”
Now, Barcelona star Rafinha appears to be a player of real interest heading into the New Year.
According to the latest update from The Boot Room and reporter Graeme Bailey, Arsenal tell Barcelona they are still interested in signing Raphinha 2025.
The Gunners, Liverpool and Manchester City are still in contact with intermediaries over a deal for the Brazil international, who joins from Leeds United in 2022 for £55m.
Rafinha is currently captain of the Catalan giants and has been starring under Hansi Flick this season. Scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions.
