Arsenal will be looking to cement their place in automatic Champions League qualification with victory over Monaco on Wednesday night, and ahead of that game Mikel Arteta admitted a forgotten man in the Gunners squad could soon be available.
The Premier League club will face the Ligue 1 side at the Emirates Stadium and a win would see them rise to 13 points. With Dinamo Zagreb and Girona being their last two opponents, a victory over Monaco would put Arsenal in a good position to move into the top eight in the table.
The Gunners had some injury issues going into the game, particularly in defence, with Gabriel, Ricardo Calafiore and Alexander Zinchenko missing the game against Fulham.
On the bench is Kieran Tierney, who missed the entire start of the 2024/25 season with a hamstring injury, but following his recovery, Arteta admitted the left-back could be available soon.
The Spanish coach said in an interview with the media before the Monaco game Fabrizio Romano: “Tierney is ready, he can get the opportunity, he is a member of the team.”
Kieran Tierney ready for Arsenal return
Tierney picks up hamstring problem in summer Playing for Scotland against Switzerland. This is a huge blow for the player, as the left-back would have been looking to leave Arsenal ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The 27-year-old has not featured in Arteta’s plans for some time, having spent last season on loan at Spanish side Real Sociedad. Tierney returns to Celtic during summer.
However, the defender now has the chance to salvage his Gunners career and after suffering several injury problems in recent seasons, many would like to see the Scotland international seize the opportunity with both hands.
