Arsenal have appointed Renee Slegers as the permanent successor to Jonas Eidevall following a highly successful spell as interim head coach.
Eidevall resigned in mid-October after three years in office.
The decision came after defeat to Chelsea, with Arsenal only managing one win from their first four Women’s Super League matches.
Slegers, temporarily transferred to the team, achieved 10 wins from 11 matches in three unbeaten months, taking Arsenal from fifth to third place in the WSL and securing automatic qualification for the Champions League.
The 35-year-old is a former Dutch midfielder of the Netherlands national team, who has been playing in Arsenal’s backroom since 2023.
Previously, she coached the Swedish team Rosengard.
On Sunday, Arsenal will play Crystal Palace at Meadow Park and have a chance to overtake Manchester City into second place in the WSL table.
