Cricket Australia will lose AUD 1 million (around Rs 5.4 crore) in gate receipts after the body was forced to hand out full refund for tickets sold on the first day of the Gabba Test between India and Australia on a rainy day.
Only 13.2 overs were recorded on the first day of the Gabba Test, after which the match was canceled due to heavy downpour on Saturday when tickets were sold out.
California rules state that if 15 or more overs are played in a day, fans will not be entitled to a full refund. However, with just 13.2 overs scored, CA will lose $1 million after falling 10 balls short of the required number.
