IND vs AUS, 3rd Test: Steve Smith hits 33rd century, scores ton after 25 innings

Australian batsman Steve Smith scored a century on Sunday during the second day of the third Test match against India at the Brisbane Cricket Ground.

The former Australia captain completed the ton in 185 balls, marking the 33rd century of his career. He has overtaken Steve Waugh on the list of most Australian Test hundreds. Only Ricky Ponting (41) has more hundreds.

The innings ended a streak of low scores for Smith, who scored a century in 25 innings. Smith’s last century came against England in June 2023 at Lord’s Ashes. He recorded only four scores over 50 during that stretch.

He also matched England’s Joe Root for most centuries in Tests against India. Both batsmen have 10 hundreds in the side.
