Australian runner Alana King was lured by UP Warriorz for her base price of Rs. 30 lakh in the auction for the 2025 edition of the Women’s Premier League.
The Melbourne-born cricketer is of Indian descent, and her parents emigrated to Australia from Chennai. She was a member of the Australian Commonwealth Games gold medal winning team, the 2022 ODI World Cup champions team and the 2023 T20 World Cup winning team.
She has previously played for the Indian T20 team, representing Supernovas in the now-defunct Women’s T20 Challenge, a showcase tournament that preceded the WPL. There were no takers for the first two editions of the league.
She will join her national team captain Alyssa Healy in the Warriorz setup and will be part of a solid spin trio that includes Sophie Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma.
