Defending Premier League champions Manchester City will host arch-rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in their 2024-25 Premier League clash.
Pep Guardiola’s city, which has not been in the best form this season, will go into the clash after a 2-0 defeat to Juventus in the Champions League. They are fifth in the league with 27 points after 15 games. However, a victory could take City into the top four.
Manchester United, currently in a transition phase under new manager Ruben Amorim, won their last Europa League match 2-1 against FC Viktoria Plzeň courtesy of Rasmus Hojlund’s late winner. However, the Red Devils were unconvincing as they are still at the beginning of the Amorim era.
United are currently 13th in the table with 19 points from 15 games. In his last match in the Premier League, he lost 3-2 to Nottingham Forest.
Amorim can be confident ahead of the clash as he defeated Guardiola in the last meeting. It was Amorim’s penultimate match as Sporting manager, in which his team defeated City 4-1 in the Champions League.
Despite Man City’s poor form, the Red Devils will need to be at their best if they are to achieve a positive result against the Etihad on Sunday.
