England captain Ben Stokes was forced to leave the field after suffering an injury on day three of the third Test against New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
Stokes was injured during the third game of the day and left the field clutching his hamstring.
He suffered a torn hamstring in the same left leg in August, forcing the 33-year-old to miss four tests during his two-month recovery period.
England released a statement saying Stokes “is currently being treated for a left hamstring problem.”
“He will not return to the field in this innings and will undergo further assessment to determine whether he will be ready to bat in England’s second innings,” he added.
England have already sealed the series after winning the first and second Tests in Christchurch and Wellington respectively
Looking to avoid a clean draw on home turf, New Zealand took a lead of over 500 runs thanks to Kane Williamson’s century.
