Australian cricketer Kim Garth was reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third W-ODI against India at the WACA Stadium in Perth, the world cricket body announced on Monday.
“Garth was found to have breached Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to ‘the use of audible profanity during an international match,'” the ICC said in a statement.
The incident occurred during the fourth innings of the India match when Garth was heard using inappropriate language. After pleading guilty to the crime and accepting the sentence, she was awarded one demerit point.
Level 1 violations carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of the player’s entry fee, and one or two penalty points.
Australia defeated India in this match and secured the ODI series victory 3-0. Garth bowled four overs in the match and finished with none for 22.
