Mumbai Cricket Association announced a bonus of Rs. 80 lakh – the same as the BCCI prize money – to the winning Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy team from Mumbai.
State cricket body president Ajinkya Naik announced the bonus while interacting with the media in the presence of captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach Omkar Salvi at the MCA premises after the arrival of the Bengaluru team. The T20 triumph is the third triumph for the Mumbai men’s team in the calendar year and their second title of the season.
With two tournaments left in the season, the team is looking forward to a rare Grand Slam in domestic cricket by winning all four senior champions’ titles.

“We have built a mindset in the locker room and on the field that no matter what situation we find ourselves in, we have to face it,” Shreyas said.
“As they say, take the bull by the horns and that’s what we’ve been doing all season and hopefully we can keep that same momentum throughout the season.”
While Shreyas was full of praise for Ajinkya Rahane – the quintessential team man – who emerged as the Player of the Tournament despite initially being forced to bat at number 4 before switching to the opener’s role mid-season.
