Real Madrid’s triumph in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup on Wednesday marked a remarkable milestone for Carlo Ancelotti as the Italian became the winningest manager in the club’s history, winning a total of 15 trophies.
After his team defeated Pachuca 3-0 in a largely one-sided match at Qatar’s Lusail Stadium, Ancelotti overtook the late Miguel Munoz, whom he matched in August by winning the European Super Cup against Atalante.

“There are so many (titles)! I’m delighted, really happy… it’s a success story,” a smiling Ancelotti told Spanish television Telecinco.
“Today I really liked the attitude of the players. They made the difference in attack, Vinicius Jr played a great match. We did well offensively.
“We have plenty of quality. Kylian (Mbappe) played a good game, Rodrygo scored the second goal… We are very happy because we won the title far from home and in the middle of a busy season.
65-year-old Ancelotti boasts one of the most successful CVs in world football.
When he was lured to Madrid for the second time three years ago, following the departure of club great Zinedine Zidane, he knew his only mission was to increase Real’s trophy tally and he did not disappoint.
He became the first manager to win league titles in each of Europe’s top five leagues – England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France – and led Real Madrid to two Champions League and La Liga doubles in three seasons.
Ancelotti’s trophy with Real Madrid includes three Champions League titles, two Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, two Spanish League titles, two Spanish Cups, two Spanish Super Cups and currently one Intercontinental Cup title.
