I-League 2024-25 wrap: Delhi FC registers second win as Gokulam, Rajasthan play out goalless draw

While it was a good day to be a fan of Delhi FC in the I-League 2024-2025, the fans of Rajasthan United and Gokulam Kerala wanted more.

Here’s what happened in I-League 2024-25 on December 19:

Delhi defeats Lajong

Delhi FC recorded their second win of the season, a dominant 3-1 win over Shillong Lajong in Round 6 at the Mahilpur Football Stadium. The score was 1-1 at halftime.

Delhi had a new home in Mahilpur and started the match well as Vanlalhriatzuala (7′) took the lead and Phrangki Buam (34′) equalized for Lajong.

Stephane Binong (54 min) and Himanshu Jangra (66 min) scored two goals each in the second half to secure the victory for the hosts. Daniel Goncalves was given his marching orders in stoppage time after his second punishable offense.

A goalless draw in Kozhikode

Gokulam Kerala seems to have forgotten how to win.

After a 3-2 victory over Sreenidi Deccan in the opening match of the I-League in Hyderabad – almost a month ago – the team was struggling. The former champion had to settle for a goalless draw against Rajasthan United at the Corporation Stadium.

Of course, this is only the beginning of the league, but Gokulam’s players should not be too happy with the development of the situation. It was their second goalless draw in a row; they shared the points with Shillong Lajong five days ago.

They just scored five goals in six games. And it was the third game in a row in which they failed to score.

Gokulam currently has seven points. Rajasthan also have seven points from six matches but need to do something about their poor goal difference (-8).

It was a story of missed opportunities for both sides. They both created plenty of chances, but unfortunately they failed to capitalize on them.

For Rajasthan, captain Alain Oyarzun gave his all and his powerful free kick in the 20th minute narrowly missed the target. Another Spanish player, Ignacio Abeledo, also played a good match, creating several opportunities for Gokulam, but his teammates let him down.
