ISL 2024-25: Improved Kerala Blasters aims to maintain momentum against Odisha FC

After a poor run at the beginning of the season, things are looking good for Kerala Blasters now. Blasters have won two of their last three matches in the ISL and will be hoping for a good performance in their match against Odisha FC at the Nehru Stadium on Monday.

“We are more cohesive as a team,” Blasters interim coach TG Purushothaman explained of the transformation.

Despite playing with nine players, Blasters won 1-0 away in their last match against Punjab and Purushothaman made it clear that the team, which currently sits in ninth place with 17 points, is targeting the play-offs.

Blasters will be without popular winger KP Rahul, who has now moved to Odisha on a permanent basis, and he will be an opponent for the first time in Monday’s match.

Odisha (seventh with 21 points) drew 2-2 away with Chennaiyin in their last match after losing 2-4 to FC Goa. Odisha have conceded six goals in their last two matches and coach Sergio Lobera believes the team needs to work on that.

We have to be more balanced because you score goals but you also miss a lot of opportunities. There were also some stupid mistakes,” Lobera said.
