It has been announced that reigning world champion D. Gukesh and India’s number 1 Arjun Erigaisi will be included in the final squad for the 2024 Norwegian Chess tournament. The event is scheduled from May 26 to June 6 at Finansparken (SR-Bank) in Stavanger City.
The tournament lineup includes home favorite Magnus Carlsen, as well as Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura and Wei Yi. The other two Indian players taking part in the competition were R. Vaishali and Koneru Humpy.
“It is an honor to play in the prestigious Norwegian Women’s Chess tournament,” Humpy said in a media note after confirming her participation earlier this month.
The tournament will consist of 10 rounds, with rest days scheduled for May 30 and June 4. Currently, Arjun, Gukesh and Vaishali are competing in the Tata Steel Chess tournament in the Netherlands.
