The hosts seemed to be back in the game as they reduced Goa to three for 42. However, a 278-run fourth-wicket partnership between Kauthankar (202 not out) and Bakle (161) dashed any hopes of Nagaland of victory. Misal and Kauthankar also added 145 runs for the fifth wicket, adding to the host’s misfortune.
Goa eventually declared the second innings at seven for 517 and removed six Nagaland batsmen before the end of the fourth day of play.
The fifth day of play turned out to be just a formality as Goa wrapped up the victory shortly after lunch.
