Marcus Rashford must change to return to Action to Manchester United, coach Ruben Amori said on Wednesday before the final match in the Europa League league with the Romanian side of Steaua Bucharest.
The England striker has not played in United since last month after admitting that he was ready for a new challenge in his career. Amorim said on Sunday that he would prefer to put a goalkeeper coach on a bench than a player who does not give his best.
“Imagine talent like Rashford, our team should be much better with him. But he must change, “Amori told reporters.
“If it changes, we are more than welcome (including taking into account) and we need it. But at the moment we have to determine some standards. We are waiting for Rashford if he wants it to be really bad – he added.
Amorim said he had nothing personal against Rashford, who had performed 287 Premier League performances since 2015.
“I have to submit the same rules for everyone,” said the manager.
“We are a better team with Rashford, it is clear, but until the right moment I will not change my mind,” he added.
The draw on Thursday is enough for United, the fourth in the classification to ensure direct qualifications to round 16 and give a disappointing season.
“I think it is clear that we can improve as a team, everyone, if we have time for training and if we combine several wins. It will be much easier – said Amorim.
