Reilly Opelka faces the potential discipline of her comments after the match about the judge chairman who called “the worst UMP on the road,” ATP said on Friday.
Opelka was angry that he received a point punishment while serving in the third set against Cameron Norrie on Dallas Open on Thursday evening. Opelka won 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
The 27-year-old American was punished for using profanity during the crisis of a crowd. Opelka said that an unidentified fan repeatedly and intentionally disturb his service.
“Audabal curses addressed to society members are a clear violation of ATP principles,” said Tour in his statement. “In such cases, the judge chairman is required to take appropriate action, regardless of the result of the match. ATP will review Mr. Opelka’s comments after the match as part of the standard disciplinary process. “
After the match, Opelka said that judge Greg Allensworth did not stop the fans from the disruption of the game.
“The worst UMP on the road,” said Opelka. “He’s really angry. He almost changed the result of this match just because he doesn’t really know what he is doing.
