The Dutchman, who reached the third round on Pally’s ally last year he seemed to struggle against Toylo’s slow pace throughout the match, but the Filipino had moments of magic that helped him secure a place in the second round. Not entirely confident in his English, Toylo communicated through a translator during the post-match press conference. “He’s happy that he won and he just can’t describe how he feels right now except that he’s happy,” the Filipino thought. “He feels the pressure of being number one in Asia, so he feels he has to perform to make sure he deserves to be number one.”

Apart from Lok Yin Lee and Paulo Nebrida, who also won their first round match at the 2025 World Darts Championship, the Asian national team has become increasingly competitive during their annual trips to north London. “They feel they can compete with anyone at this point and it’s just a matter of finishing them,” explains Toylo, explaining that confidence in Asian darts is high at the moment.
It is worth noting that Toylo’s appearance on Saturday afternoon was also a landmark moment in PDC history, as he became the 500th different player to play at the PDC World Darts Championships. “It’s something very special,” explains translator Toylo. “He said he was just doing everything he could to play as well as he could. I am preparing for the second round by ensuring good sleep and good training.”
