Chestnut leading scorer in men’s basketball John Broome will not require surgery, the team said the Wednesday after he injured his arm Tuesday night against State of Georgia.
Broome, who entered the game averaging 19.7 points and leading the league in scoring with 12.7 rebounds, went to the locker room just 2:17 into the contest. Tigers coach Bruce Pearl later told reporters that Broome’s shoulder “came out and then came back,” which also happened to him last season.
According to the team, MRI results showed that the standout center would not have to miss much time.
The No. 2 Tigers will face the No. 16 seed Purdue on Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama.
