Baroness Sue Campbell appointed new chair of the board of England Netball

The Football Association’s former director of women’s football, Baroness Campbell, is the new chairman of England Netball.

The 76-year-old left the FA at the beginning of November after eight years of helping transform the women’s game in England.

She will succeed current Chair Bridget Blow CBE in January 2025.

Campbell told the BBC Women’s Hour on Thursday, one of her goals is to give the English netball team “a chance to be the best in the world.”

She added: “The sport is in a good place and I will be working with Fran [Connolly, England Netball chief executive officer] let’s see if we can build on that and take it to an even better place for the next few years.”

During Campbell’s FA days The lionesses won the title of European Champion at Wembley Stadium in 2022, and a year later he reached the World Cup final.

“Winning the European Championships recharged everything,” Campbell said.

“In netball we know we have the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the World Championships in the next few years.

“We have to be totally committed to winning them and use that to inspire even more girls to play our game.”
