Reigning UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad has fired back at Kamaru Usman, saying he will “whip” Islam Makhachev if he moves up to 170 pounds.
These comments come after Islam Makhachev defeated Renato Moicano in the previous round at UFC 311, with Usman convinced Makhachev will destroy Muhammad.

After winning the UFC welterweight title in mid-2024, Belal Muhammad was also frequently attacked by UFC fighters and fans.
Whether it’s his fighting style or the fact that he hasn’t actually defended the 170-pound belt yet, “The Bully” seems to be getting a lot of criticism. One of Muhammad’s latest critics is former welterweight king Kamaru Usman.
Nigerian Nightmare comments on a possible showdown between Muhammad and 155-pound king Islam Makhachev following his massive win in the UFC 311 main event.
Muhammad, of course, took offense to the comments and fired back at Usman on social media. Usman in his Pound 4 Pounds Podcast He thinks Makhachev should move up to welterweight and take Muhammad’s belt.
Some say Belal Muhammad and Islam Makhachev will never fight each other due to their deep friendship, but Usman thinks Makhachev should put that aside and instead stand up and “whip” “Bully”.
It’s safe to say Berard wasn’t particularly happy with the comments and fired back on social media.
If a fight ever happened between Islam Makhachev and Belal Muhammad, America’s best online sportsbooks would likely favor the lightweight king. Despite being smaller, he is ranked No. 1 at his weight and will certainly be the offshore betting sites’ favorite for the 170-pound title.

Belal Muhammad warns Kamaru Usman to ‘stop saying my name’
Kamaru Usman comments on his podcast after Islam Makhachev moved up to welterweight to “whip” Belal Muhammad, 170 The pound-for-pound champion took to social media directly to make his comments.
“The Bully” ordered Usman to stop mentioning his name while also taking a dig at the former champion. Usman is currently on a three-fight losing streak, and Muhammad is, of course, the king of the welterweight division:
“Stop saying my name until you finally end your losing streak.” Muhammad wrote. “Or you change the podcast name to ‘Loss After Loss.'”
It’s fair to say that Belal Muhammad roasted Kamaru Usman with short and sweet insults here. Interestingly, it’s not completely out of the question for UFC fans to watch Muhammad vs. Usman in the future.
Muhammad is expected to face Shavkat Rakhmonov in his next fight, but if he loses, he will likely consider a match against the “Nigerian Nightmare.” It also depends on how the March fight between Leon Edwards and Jack Della Maddalena plays out.
After a war of words and insults, a fight between Kamaru Usman and Belal Muhammad will definitely whet the appetite of UFC fans. Fingers crossed we get to see this fight in the next year or two!
