Ben Chilwell faces another six months on the Chelsea side after they failed to secure an offer for the England defender.
blues boss Enzo Maresca Chilwell and Carney described Chukwuemeka this week as “the first to leave” — but a move is proving difficult.
Chilwell Maresca signed a new four-year, £190,000-a-week deal last year before being banished from the first-team squad for tactical reasons this season.
The star, who turned 28 on Saturday, is on wages that are too high for most Premier League and European clubs.
even Previous suitors Brentford, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are not after the left-back next month.
Chilwell has only played once this season and has been an unused sub once, both in the Carabao Cup.
He was not included Conference League That won’t change for Maresca’s squad with the rest of the squad and the knockout stages after Christmas.
Maresca sympathizes with Chilwell but does not plan to change his position.
He said: “There are players who unfortunately haven’t played a lot with us in all competitions, like Chilwell, like Carney.
“They’re probably the first ones who want to leave when they work every day, they train every day, they want to play games — and if they’re not playing games they’re thinking about leaving.
“So we’re going to see some of them come knocking on the door and say I want to leave. It’s a different situation for every player.
Chilwell joined Chelsea After a £50m deal from Leicester in 2020.
The full-back has amassed a total of nine goals and 12 assists in 107 appearances.
The England international also won Champions League As well as the UEFA Super Cup with the Blues in 2021.
