Los Angeles Lakers recruit Bronny Jameswho has a string of promising performances under his belt with the South Bay Lakers, will take part in the G League’s winter showcase this week, sources tell ESPN.
The show will take place December 19-22 in Orlando, Florida and is one of the most important events on the G League calendar, with staff from all 30 NBA teams attending to keep an eye out for the talent on display.
ESPN sources say the Lakers’ front office and James’ agents at Klutch Sports collaborated on a plan to move the defenseman to Orlando as the next step in his development.
James, 20, the 55th overall pick in the second round by the Lakers, is averaging 20.7 points on 43.1% shooting (26.3% from 3), 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 rebounds over the last three games for South Bay. .0 assists.
His father, LeBron Jameshe said he watched his son’s games while he was recovering from left foot pain that kept him from playing with the Lakers last week.
“Just keep grinding, keep doing what you’re doing,” LeBron said of Bronny. “At the end of the day, work always wins. It’s great to see him get back into shape, get back to his game, get back to it, just playing for free, going out and just playing the game that he loves and knows how to play. I loved his aggressiveness.
South Bay’s first game in Orlando is Thursday against the Greensboro Swarm.
