MLB bans two fans indefinitely for ripping ball from Los Angeles Dodgers fielder Mookie Betts’ glove

Two New York Yankees fans who tried to snatch the ball from the glove of Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts during Game 4 of the World Series in October have been banned from all Major League Baseball stadiums indefinitely.

Betts, 32, was catching a foul hit by former Yankee Gleyber Torres against the right field wall when fans in the front row grabbed his wrist and opened his glove to get the ball.

This week, MLB wrote a letter to John P. Hansen and Austin Capobianco saying their behavior at Yankee Stadium “far exceeded the boundaries of acceptable fan behavior.”

The league added that if the two men are found at any MLB facilities or events, “they will be removed from the facility and subject to arrest for trespassing.”

Both fans were ejected from the game, which the Yankees won 11-4, and were unable to attend Game 5 the following night when the Dodgers sealed a 7-6 victory. to win the championship.
