Gary Bowyer is a shrewd appointment by Burton Albion, not only is he a successful man with two promotions, but he has shown his ability to bring club and dressing room together with his personable approach and one thing is for sure – these players will know exactly what they are fighting for under his leadership in the fight for survival.
His experience is not just at first-team level, which will benefit the young group at Burton. He is known throughout Derby County’s A38 route for having played a key role in the team’s academy system for two spells, with Rams signing players such as Tom Huddlestone in the first spell and working with the likes of Eiran Cashin in the second.
Since then, his return to men’s football has been a fruitful one, as he stabilized a shaky situation at Salford City and took the team close to the play-offs twice before being sacked, then winning the Scottish Championship in style with Dundee in 2023.
Experience, know-how and track record are what Burton Albion needs and Bowyer is a man who ticks all three boxes.
