The PFL league’s prize money has been cut from $1 million to $500,000 (£409,000) as part of sweeping changes to its competition format.
The group stage was abolished and the tournament switched to a single-elimination format that includes the first round, semi-finals and finals.
The PFL added two weight classes – middleweight and bantamweight – for a total of eight weight classes.
The opening gala of the first round will take place on April 3, but no locations or fights have been announced.
The finals will be held over three events in August, rather than in one fight night as in previous years.
This month, PFL reported Bellator will no longer continue and that all Bellator fighters will compete under the PFL brand.
It is unclear which fighters will participate in the PFL tournament and which will compete on standalone fight nights this year.
British Dakota Ditcheva won the women’s flyweight tournament – and $1 million in prize money – last year.
It is not certain whether she will decide to compete in the next season in the USA, considering that she has expressed such a desire compete on home turf in Manchester this year.
Brendan Loughnane is the only Briton to win a PFL tournament, taking the featherweight title and $1 million prize money in 2022.
