Rhian Wilkinson says Wales want to play the “best of the best” as they prepare for their first appearance in a major tournament.
Wilkinson’s team will find out their opponents at the 2025 European Championships in Switzerland when the draw takes place on Monday, December 16 at 17:00 GMT. It can be watched on BBC Two, iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.
The head coach says Wales don’t care who they play in their group and won’t be upset if they draw one of the main contenders to win the tournament, such as defending champions England, World Cup winners Spain or Olympic champions Germany.
“I’m in a great position, I mean I don’t care and I think that’s a gift because it’s the first chance for us to go into this experience without fear,” Wilkinson told BBC Sport Wales.
“Not many people expect much from us. The people who expect the most are ourselves.
“So would we like to take on the best? Why wouldn’t we?
“There was an informal comment about the Nations League A draw and someone said: ‘I’m sure Wales are happy they didn’t get England’.
“I would love England. I mean, why wouldn’t I want Spain, England and Germany? This is the highest, highest level in the women’s game.”
