Luke Littler and Luke Humphries into last eight of Players Championship

Luke Littler continued his stunning form by defeating Danny Noppert 10-3 to reach the quarter-finals of the Players Championship in Minehead, where he was joined by world number one Luke Humphries.

Seventeen-year-old sensation Littler defeated Ritchie Edhouse 6-2 in the second round of Saturday afternoon’s session before returning to comfortably say goodbye to Noppert.

Littler, who scored seven 180s, an average of 104.70 and a high score of 129 against Noppert, will face Mike de Decker in the next round.

“When I have these little bursts, I feel like no one can touch me,” Littler said.

Humphries defeated Raymond van Barneveld 6-3 in the afternoon session and then won 10-6 against Damon Heta.

The defending champion wasn’t at his best beating Heta as his average was 96.98 and his highest point total was 104.

“There were a lot of visits where I felt like I had a lot more to offer,” said Humphries, who will play Ryan Joyce in the quarter-finals.

“So much 140 and not enough 180. I’m trying to keep up with Luke and get to a good level.

“In the end, I won and that’s all that matters. That takes me to Sunday and I can start again.”

If they continue to make progress, Littler and Humphries will meet in the final.

“Luke is playing absolutely phenomenal darts right now,” Humphries said.

“He’s probably the best player in the world right now, but I know I have the level to match him.”
