Dele Alli: Ex-England midfielder set to join Serie A club Como on 18-month deal

Former England midfielder Dele Alli is set to join Italian team Como, where he is awaiting treatment.

The 28-year-old has spent the last month training with the Serie A club and has been given an initial 18-month contract with a performance-based option for next season.

Alli has been without a club since leaving Everton in June, but continued training under then-manager Sean Dyche before joining Como on trial.

The former Tottenham and MK Dons player has not played a single senior match since being loaned to Turkish Besiktas in February 2023.

In an emotional interview with Gary Neville later in July 2023, Alli he revealed that he was sexually abused at the age of six and that he was dealing drugs at the age of eight. He also admitted drinking alcohol and taking sleeping pills during his career, but stressed his desire to return to the game after receiving support for off-field problems.

Last summer, Como returned to Italy’s top flight for the first time in almost 50 years, with former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas as their manager.

Spaniard Fabregas and Thierry Henry are also minority investors in the club.
