Caf general secretary will not face legal action over fraud allegations | Football

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office will not initiate legal proceedings against its general secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba, following an investigation into allegations of mismanagement, fraud and document forgery.

Mosengo-Omba denied the claim, which was A public release from the Federal Criminal Court of Switzerland in Octoberand met with the Swiss public prosecutor’s office in November to answer questions about the preliminary investigation. He said on social media that since becoming general secretary he had been paid “remuneration and bonus” from the cafe and that they were paid with “full transparency” and “in full compliance with cafe laws”.

    A Caf statement on Thursday said: “Caf welcomes the decision of the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office and is satisfied that Caf and the Caf Secretariat continue to adhere to and comply with the culture and commitment to ethics, transparency and governance. Introduced since Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s presidency.”

    Mosengo-Omba, formerly FIFA’s chief member association officer as well as a close associate of Gianni Infantino, and who was appointed Caf general secretary in 2021, is still awaiting the outcome of an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct following an alleged breach. Its internal governance and auditing regulations that were drafted in August.
