Blumberg also revealed more about the circumstances surrounding Flanagan’s sudden departure, which was said to be a mutual decision.
Blumberg said Flanagan “wanted to make a decision about his future” and “put a little pressure on what would happen to him.”
“It almost made it a decision that needed to be made quickly rather than waiting a little longer and looking through everything,” Blumberg added.
“The decision was also made because we did not win enough games in the first block.
“There was definitely an improvement in performance and some things were going in the right direction, but the board wasn’t happy with the number of wins.”
The Dragons will return to United Rugby Championship (URC) action on December 26 when they face Cardiff at 17:15 GMT.
