Enzo Maresca: Chelsea boss open to dropping goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for Filip Jorgensen

The Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, says that he has not yet decided which goalkeeper will face West Ham on Monday – previously supporting Robert Sanchez’s number one despite loud mistakes.

27-year-old Sanchez was the goalkeeper of the first choice of Italian coach, but he made five mistakes in the Premier League, leading to goals this season.

Earlier he said that mistakes are common in his style of play, Maresca suggested a possible change against deputy Filip Jorgensena option – when the former Chelsea manager, Graham Potter returns to Stamford Bridge from Hammers on Monday.

“Not yet,” answered Maresca asked if he decided which goalkeeper plays, adding: “We have two or three days to decide.

“It is a good thing that every decision I make, I feel good, because every time Filip played from the beginning, he did well.

“Filip or Robert, we’ll see, but every decision will be fine.”

Maresca was asked if Jorgensen was pressing on him to start another league match when he had only two league starts this season.

“I don’t think I talked to Filip for the first time in June or July, I was clear that Robert was the number one choice,” he added.

“For sure, if number one is Robert, and then, because we have two good goalkeepers, we can make different decisions.

“This does not mean that Robert can make a mistake in any game and will always play. Robert was the number one choice and we will see on Monday. “
