Champions League: Do Celtic ‘look ready for knockout football’?

With Dinamo struggling with serious injury problems, Celtic went into the match as favorites but never really threatened on a difficult surface.

Rodgers admitted there was a feeling that one point could earn three points and progress to the knockout rounds could have been even closer.

“The disappointment will be that they didn’t create as many chances as they would have liked,” McFadden added. “It shows how far they have come and that they are disappointed to some extent.

“Nine points after six games. Before this started, you could say this was a great position for Celtic.

“They are in an incredible position to finish exactly where they wanted to go before this campaign started.”

This reflected the mood of the players.

“We’ll take the point, but we came here for three people,” said defender Auston Trusty. “It was a solid performance. We thought we could get more out of the game.”

Trusty has been a major contributor to Celtic’s improved defensive performance on the continent, and his assertion that they came to Zagreb to win points to more than just improved performances.

Celtic now expect to go away and win games in the Champions League.

It was almost unthinkable last season when they scored 10 goals away at Parkhead without scoring any of them.

As McFadden says, it shows how far they’ve come.
