Chargers’ Justin Herbert suffered an ankle sprain in Week 14 vs. the Chiefs

The Chargers will take on the Chiefs on the road in Week 14 for their second game of the season. Earlier in Week 4, Los Angeles lost to the Chiefs 17-10 at home. The Chargers got closer to Kansas City in Week 14, losing 19-17 after a shot hit the uprights and into the goal.

Starting quarterback in Los Angeles’ opening game against Kansas City Justin Herbert Sprained his ankle and played through the game. He finished the game with 213 passing yards and a touchdown. After losing to the Chiefs, the Chargers are 8-5 and still in position to make the playoffs. We’ll see if Justin Herbert is available in Week 15 when the Chargers host the Buccaneers.

Justin Herbert leaves game in Week 14 with ankle injury

This is Justin Herbert’s fifth season with the Chargers and his first under head coach Jim Harbaugh. In his first four seasons, Herbert had two winning records and two losing records. With Harbaugh taking over, Herbert will have three winning seasons in his first five years. Los Angeles made the playoffs at one point during Herbert’s tenure, but they lost in the wild-card round. When Herbert began his career, he was asked to pass the ball far more than he ran the ball.

That won’t be the case in 2024. Los Angeles’ offense is balanced. Justin Herbert has 14 passing touchdowns this season, and the Chargers have 13 rushing touchdowns as a team. While Herbert could easily throw for 300 yards per game, that’s not a necessity for him in this offense. He was injured in Week 14 due to an ankle injury, and running the ball could be a plus for the Chargers. Earlier this season, we saw Herbert sprain his ankle in Week 2 and have limited mobility for the next few games. Herbert is a tough player who has only missed a handful of games in his career. If the Chargers want to make the playoffs in 2024, they need a win.
