Enzo Maresca says Mykhailo Mudrik to “disconnect” from Chelsea As he awaits the outcome of a Football Association (FA) investigation failed drug test.
The 23-year-old winger was suspended last week after returning a positive “A” sample in October.
Sources told ESPN that the banned substance was meldonium and was administered while he was out of the country.
Mudrik wrote on Instagram that he was “shocked” by the news and sources suggested he believed his sample was contaminated.
D Ukraine The international, who is also under investigation by Chelsea with the club insisting he “never knowingly used any banned substance”, could face a multi-year ban if found guilty by the FA.
Mudrik was seen ringside at last Saturday’s boxing heavyweight title fight between his compatriot Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.
Asked if he had been given time away from Chelsea, Maresca said: “At the moment it’s also good that he can disconnect a bit from the situation. The last time I spoke to him, we tried to support him but at the moment we’re waiting.”
Maresca also supported his former club Manchester City To fight to overcome their discomfort Premier League headlines this season.
City have lost nine of their last 12 games in all competitions and sit seventh, 12 points behind the leaders. Liverpool.
“I think Man City will be there in the end,” Maresca added. “They are in a moment that has never happened before. Every time they play a game, they have some injuries. They don’t have enough players right now.
“What they have is probably not 100 percent because they’re just coming back from injury. It’s a very bad situation but I think it’s for everyone when something like this happens.”
