Chelsea wants to sign Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi.
The west London club are looking for a replacement for Wesley Fofana, who, as Enzo Maresca has confirmed, could miss the rest of the season with a serious hamstring injury.
Newcastle tried to sign Guehi last summer but could not agree a transfer fee with Palace.
The 24-year-old started his career in Chelsea’s Cobham academy and joined Palace in the summer of 2021 for £18 million. Guehi has 18 months left on his contract at Selhurst Park.
Another option being considered by Chelsea is to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Palace.

Dharmesh Sheth from Sky Sports News:
“Chelsea will always be open to doing business, depending on whether the right opportunity arises. We should also look at potential departures. I’m not saying that Chelsea is at risk of violating the PSR, but every club will have it in the background.
“They will be looking to make sure they don’t do a deal before June 30 to make sure they can go into the summer and really commit to it.
“There could be an opportunity if Chelsea received the right offers that would allow a few players to leave. I think they will listen to offers from the likes of Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei. Enzo Maresca has We haven’t hidden it, since we’re talking about Guehi, keep an eye on potential Chelsea departures.
