Mickey Mansell was one of the main players who got into the action Dart Premier League the squad, particularly the way it was selected, as some players were missing out on the elite eight, which may have had a reason to be there in some people’s minds.
Mansell went to X the day before the election to share his predictions. He chose the squad, apart from the fact that Nathan Aspinall was in the squad. The day before, he tweeted the prediction and posted it Damon Heta in place of “Asp”.
He then asked, “Chizzy, Jonny, and Damon Heta started their TikTok accounts today.” Stephen Bunting in particular has spent the last year or so building a cult-like online fan community.
Now he has TikTok and YouTube, and his Titanium by Sia walk has made him a fan favorite. But while Bunting was the fan favorite, the others didn’t fall either. As always with Premier League squads, what is controversial is Matt Porter’s own claim that many of the players selected are doing so to whip the stadiums into a frenzy due to meritocracy.
Mike de Decker is one player who felt dismay at not being selected, hitting out at the PDC for selecting Aspinall solely because his replacement was Mr Brightside from The Killers and that neither he nor Gerwyn Price had done anything in the months leading up to this.
De Decker was the only player ever to win a major title on Sky Sports and was not selected to feature in the darts, which left him greatly saddened. On the other hand, Heta took to social media to state that he knows he will not be elected.
So everywhere you look there are very different opinions, including whether or not you are Mickey Mansell.
