Hogg, who was described as “angry” and “controlling” during the relationship, frightened his victim with his behavior while he was drinking.
She reported that she “wanted morning to come as soon as possible, for him to sober up and for it all to be over.”
The allegation also alleged that Hogg monitored his wife’s movements using the Find My Phone app after their split in 2023 and sometimes sent her hundreds of text messages in a matter of hours.
Following the verdict, Sergeant Jade Wardell said the force would not tolerate “domestic violence of any kind”.
She added: “Without the victim coming forward and reporting these incidents to us, we would not be able to ensure that Hogg faces consequences.”
The former Glasgow Warriors defender enjoyed a century of senior caps for his country and took part in three tours of the UK and Ireland with the Lions.
He remains one of Scotland’s all-time leading goalscorers and was awarded an MBE in the 2024 New Year Honors List for services to rugby union.
Hogg retired last summer and signed a two-year contract with Montpellier.
