Ulster v Munster: Michael Lowry ‘so focused that Christmas is a second priority’

Lowry says Ulster’s first-half performance against Bordeaux was the “best 40 minutes” the team played all season.

Richie Murphy’s men led by five points at half-time but their French opponents, who are second in the top 14 behind victorious Toulouse, made up ground in the final quarter to seal a convincing victory.

“Unfortunately, the second half wasn’t as good and that’s what we have to give, which is the full 80 minutes,” added 26-year-old Lowry.

“We are going in the right direction. It’s good to look back and see that we’re so close to the 80-minute show if we just sort a few things out.

Lowry added that there is still a “real buzz” around Ulster’s Ravenhill home and such a quick match gives Ulster a chance to respond.

“We evaluate the game, both good and bad. We will work on these bad things, but it’s about faith. We also want to improve good things. Yes, it’s good, but it’s not perfect,” he said.

“We are striving for this. We are trying to be better individually and hopefully collectively it will happen.”
