Monza have sacked manager Alessandro Nesta of the bottom-of-the-table Serie A club.
The former Italy defender watched Sunday lose 2-1 to Juventus in what proved to be his final game in charge.
Manja have won just once in 17 league matches this season and are five points adrift of safety.
Nesta, who played as a centre-back for clubs including AC Milan and Lazio, took over as Monza boss before the start of the season.
But his first managerial role in Serie A ended with their third straight defeat at Monza at the weekend, extending their winless run to nine matches.
“The club thanks the coach for what he has done so far and wishes him all the best for the future,” Manja said in a statement.
After winning the 2006 World Cup with Italy, Nesta made his managerial debut with Miami FC in 2015, before working with Italian lower division sides Perugia, Frosinone and Reggiana.
Monza face Parma on Saturday, five points ahead of their opponents in 16th place.
